Monitoring is a waste of time, Right?
This is a question that I had from a client recently so I thought it would be useful to give you some more information on the subject of Monitoring.
First of all what is monitoring?
If you ask Wikipedia what IT monitoring is it tells you; IT monitoring is the use of a system that constantly monitors a computer network for slow or failing components and that notifies the network administrator (via email, SMS or other alarms) in case of outages or other trouble. Network monitoring is part of network management strategy.
Although this is technically true what that definition doesn’t tell you is that by employing a remote monitoring solution you are getting a technical resource that has years of experience at solving business problems. What else it doesn’t tell you is that when the monitoring picks up issues they are normally resolved long before you ever know of a possible issue.
